Who provides ModTamer

ModTamer is provided by Arturo von Senger, an individual based in Chile. Contact: contact@modtamer.com.

When you buy a plan, the purchase is handled by Paddle, our authorised reseller and Merchant of Record. That means Paddle is the seller for your purchase, handles the payment, and handles the transaction taxes it is responsible for as Merchant of Record — VAT, GST, sales tax and the like. Paddle's own terms also apply to the transaction. ModTamer remains responsible for its own income, accounting and tax obligations in Chile.

Who can buy

To buy a plan you must be 18, or the age of majority where you live, and able to enter into a contract. If you are younger, ModTamer can still be used — but a parent or guardian has to make the purchase and be responsible for it.

Current status

ModTamer has not launched, and no plan can be bought yet. Accounts, licences and the computer allowance described below are built and in use; what is missing is checkout, which opens once Paddle has reviewed and approved this site. The log analyser on this page works today, needs no account, and is free.

Everything below about renewal, payment and cancellation describes how it will work from the day checkout opens.

What ModTamer is

A desktop tool that diagnoses, repairs, validates and measures modded Minecraft servers (Forge and NeoForge). It works on isolated copies of your server: your original folder is never modified during analysis or testing.

When you explicitly ask it to apply changes to your real server, it takes a backup first, and it writes only mod files inside the mods folder — never your world, your configuration or your server properties. If the backup fails, nothing is applied.

These three are not statements of intent. Each one is enforced by automated tests that fail the build if it stops being true.

One feature is a deliberate exception, and it asks first: measuring what each individual mod costs uses a profiler that uploads its measurements to an external service to make them readable. It will not run unless you accept that, every time. The privacy policy describes exactly what goes and what does not.

What ModTamer does not promise

• We do not promise that any modpack will be stable, bug-free, or free of crashes. What we verify is that a server started successfully under the conditions we tested.
• Performance figures are estimates under a documented scenario. Real player counts depend on your hardware, your world, your network and what players actually do.
• We do not promise universal compatibility. The combinations of loader and Minecraft version we actually test are listed publicly on the home page. Outside them ModTamer may work, but nobody has verified it.
• "Registered" is a fact we can check; "works" is not. ModTamer can confirm that a server knows about a mod's content. Whether a feature behaves correctly in play depends on the game.

Mods belong to their authors

ModTamer does not host or redistribute mods. When you accept a repair or an update, it downloads files from their public source on your behalf, the same way your browser would.

You are responsible for complying with the licences and terms of the mods you install. ModTamer is not affiliated with Mojang, Microsoft, the Forge or NeoForge teams, Modrinth, CurseForge, or any mod author.

Your licence

A licence belongs to one person, and that person may install ModTamer on the number of computers their plan allows. It is non-exclusive and non-transferable.

Yes, you can use it to get paid

If you fix other people's servers for money — as a freelancer, as an admin for a community, as a favour that turned into a job — that is allowed. Use it on your own computers, under your own account. What you cannot do is hand your licence to the client, or run ModTamer as a service other people log into.

One licence, one person

The allowance is computers, not people. If two people at a company both use ModTamer, that is two licences, even on one machine. A licence with a two-computer allowance is a desktop and a laptop for the same person, not a shared seat for a team.

Running a hosting business and wanting ModTamer across your customers' servers is a different thing than any of the above. The plans on this site do not cover it, and we do not currently offer a plan that does — neither hosting use nor multi-user business use. This may be revisited when such a plan exists.

What counts as a computer

One installation on one machine. Virtual machines count, and they are allowed. We identify a machine by an identifier ModTamer generates itself; we do not collect serial numbers from your disks, board or BIOS.

If you change computers, reinstall, or wipe a machine, you release the activation from your account and use it elsewhere. It takes a click, it does not need us, and there is no limit on how often you do it.

What you may not do

• share, resell or publish your licence key;
• circumvent licence checks or plan limits;
• redistribute ModTamer, or bundle it into something you sell.

ModTamer's code stays ours. Buying a plan buys the right to use it, not a copy of it to do what you like with. You keep whatever the law gives you regardless — including, where it applies, the right to study or adapt the software for interoperability, which no clause here takes away.

Working without a connection

ModTamer does the heavy work locally, so it keeps working when our servers do not. Your installation holds a signed permit that says which plan you have. It renews itself every 24 hours when it can reach us, and it stays valid for 7 days from the moment it was issued. The gap between those two numbers is the offline period: a week in which the application works normally without reaching us at all.

Those are the only two numbers involved, and a failure on our side never costs you anything. If we do not answer — or answer badly — the permit already on your disk is left alone rather than downgraded. Being unable to fix your server because our site is down would be a poor way to sell you a tool for emergencies.

What does need us is short, and it is worth knowing which: creating an account, activating a computer or releasing one, and counting the single free run included in the Free plan. Paid plans ask us nothing in order to do the actual work.

Subscriptions, renewal and payment

• Prices are in US dollars. Taxes are worked out and added by Paddle at checkout, and shown to you before you pay.
• ModTamer is sold by the month. There is no annual plan. Plans renew automatically each month, on the same date and at the price you are already paying, until you cancel.
• There is no free trial and no introductory price. What is free is the Free plan, which needs no card.
• Moving up a plan takes effect immediately, and Paddle charges the difference for the part of the period you have left.
• Moving down takes effect at your next payment, not the day you ask. You already paid for the period you are in at the higher price, so you keep it until that period ends. Until then your account shows both: the plan you have and the one you asked for.
• A price change never changes what you are already paying. If we change a price, we tell you by email before it applies to one of your renewals, in time for you to cancel if you would rather not.
• If a payment fails, ModTamer keeps working while Paddle retries it. An expired card is not a cancellation. See the refund and cancellation policy.

Cancelling, and what you keep

You can cancel at any time, from the billing portal linked in your account and in every receipt. Cancelling stops the renewal, not your access: you keep the plan until the end of the period you already paid for. A refund is a different thing and works differently — it ends paid access when it goes through. Both are on the refunds page.

When a paid plan ends, your account, your licence key and your list of computers stay where they are. The application returns to the Free plan, which means static analysis of any pack with no size limit; what stops is repeating complete test runs, and the rest of what the paid plans add.

What ModTamer already produced for you is yours and stays on your disk — repaired packs, backups, reports, measurements. They are files on your own computer. Nothing we do here reaches back and takes them away, and a subscription that ends is not a reason to lose work you already have.

If ModTamer shuts down

We would tell you by email at the address on your account, stop renewals, and not charge you again. The period you already paid for runs out as normal.

Once the servers are gone, the signed permit on your disk stops being valid 7 days after it was last renewed, and the application returns to the Free plan. Static analysis keeps working, with no account and no size limit, and everything already on your disk stays yours.

Your responsibilities

ModTamer changes files on servers you control. Although it works on copies and takes a backup before applying anything, you should keep your own backups. Software fails, disks fail, and a tool that touches your files is not a substitute for your own copy.

Suspension, and how to appeal one

We may suspend a licence that is being shared publicly, used to attack our services, or used in a way that breaks the law. Where the situation allows it, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.

If you think we got it wrong, write to contact@modtamer.com and say so. One person reads that inbox. We will tell you what the suspension was for, and if it cannot be supported, it is lifted. If a paid plan stays suspended for something that turns out not to have been your doing, you get the unused part of it back.

Liability

ModTamer is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, lost revenue or lost opportunity; and our total liability for anything else is limited to the amount paid for ModTamer through Paddle in the twelve months before the claim.

The limit is measured against payments made through Paddle rather than to ModTamer directly, because Paddle is the seller for your purchase.

The limit does not apply to fraud, to deliberate wrongdoing, to gross negligence, to death or personal injury, or to anything else the law does not let us limit. And it does not take away a consumer's right to have a faulty digital product repaired, replaced, reduced in price or refunded where the law provides it — the fourteen-day guarantee on the refunds page is in addition to those rights, not instead of them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Chile. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights and we have your email, we will tell you before it takes effect.
